Congrats on 3 Decades  Potter's Piggly Wiggly in Oak Creek celebrated its 30 year anniversary in August.  CHUCK POTTER built his advertising around the 30th Anniversary featuring sales, giveaways, lots of prizes, Badger Football tickets and more.  Highlights included the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, Rainbow Randa the Clown and Jo-Don Farms Petting Zoo, pony rides and games for the kids!  Ed Note: No connection between the 'chuck' roast on sale and the proprietor.

Tuh-MAY-toh or Tuh-MAH-to?    That's the question from GREG LAPOINT at Russ Davis Wholesale in this week's produce journal.  Pronunciation doesn't matter when it comes to this fabulous nutritious fruit known as a vegetable. It's hard to believe that such a widely-used food source was once considered deadly poisonous. Available year-round in fresh and preserved forms, there is no shortage of uses for this versatile "vegetable".

Big Cheese Winners    WisBusiness.com reports that Uplands Cheese Co.'s Extra Aged Pleasant Ridge Reserve from Dodgeville took Best of Show for the third time, the only cheese to have done so in the competition's history and one of the most prestigious cheese competitions in North America. Wisconsin cheesemakers Saturday took home 98 ribbons - 29 firsts, 36 seconds and 33 thirds - almost a third of all of the awards given and more than any other state. The five-day conference and competition in Seattle had more than 1,400 entries from 34 states, Canada and Mexico.   "Wow, that may be the best we've ever done," said JOHN UMHOEFER, executive director of the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association.
