Minimum Wage Increase
Just a reminder: Wisconsin’s minimum wage increased to $7.25 effective July 24, 2009. At that time, the minor wage for employees under the age of 18 will no longer exist. However, the “opportunity wage” will still be in effect at $5.90. The state defines an “opportunity employee” as an employee who is not yet 20 years old and who has been in employment status with a particular employer for 90 or fewer consecutive calendar days from the date of initial employment.
For more information on the minimum wage and/or to order a super poster containing wage and other required labor postings, please contact Sarah Decorah at the WGA.
